Oz - Barrier Reef

After hitting Cairns and realising the PADI courses there are much better value than the one I'd had in Malaysia I have to do an advanced course on the pretence that Malaysia was some kind of warm up. Here we are up on deck with my cabin mate john, a welsh bobby...

The diving down under is definitely better than Asia. We chase baby sharks until we stop to wander where the parents are, sample a bit of nitrogen narcosis at 40M, and I watch the others play god on the night dives with the torch (good for predators, not good for their lunch), don't think that's a vegetarian sport. Hopefully I'll catch up with john in a couple of weeks and manage to prise some underwater photos off him...

Back in Cairns and the weathers a bit britty so I bury my nose in the guide to discover there's a lot more stuff to do on the gold coast than we'd seen on my last trip...
